Berastagi Sweet Memories

My home town is Berastagi. It is 72 km from Medan, the capital city of North Sumatra. And you can go there by public transportation. Along the way you will see cliff and beautiful scenery because Berastagi is surrounded by the green mountains that we called Bukit Barisan or Taman Hutan Raya. Berastagi also has two volcanoes that we call Sinabung and Sibayak. Many people around the world come to climb the mountain every year.

Actually Berastagi is the part of Karo regency with the capital districk is Kabanjahe, but Berastagi is more popular than Kabanjahe because the landscape of berastagi is more beautiful than Kabanjahe.  Berastagi is a touris city. The tourist from abroad come to see the culture, the place, and  the people who stay there. Because of that, the people who stay there are very friendly. Most of them are the farmers and merchant. And when you come to Berastagi  do not forget to buy oranges and marquisa.  The right moment to come to Berastagi is in second week of August because in that time we have culture event that we call Pesta Budaya Mejuah-Juah.  In this event, we can see so many cultural presentations from many villages near Berastagi. We also can see many types of vegetables and fruits from the farmers.
Near Berastagi, we have many beautiful places to visit. They are:
1.      Lau Sidebuk-debuk
Usually Karonese use this place for cultural ceremonies. But for the tourist, this place is famous for the hot spring.
2.      Gundaling
A beautiful place that we like to visit. From this place we can see Berastagi town. It is more beautiful when you come at night.
3.      Desa Lingga
A culture village. You can see the way of Karonese life in their daily activities.
4.      Penatapan and Sampuren Sikulikap
10 km from Berastagi. A place that you can see the beautiful green mountain, monkey and waterfall.

There are other places that we can visit in Berastagi. But these are enough to convince you that Berastagi is a beautiful place. And finally, I like Berastagi and I hope someday I can stay there for my life.
